OUR HISTORY
In 1960, Burton Waldron began manufacturing exhaust
systems for vintage cars and trucks in Nottawa, Michigan.
Over the years, Burt procured "patterns" for
exhaust pipes, Y pipes, H pipes, mufflers and tailpipes
from a number of sources. He purchased old stock inventory
from other manufacturers like IPC and Walker, dealer
inventories from muffler shops and distributors, "take-offs"
from customer vehicles and hundreds of new and used
components from the swap meets and shows he attended
over the years. Today, that storehouse of physical patterns
- over 2000 of them! - allows us to manufacture and
VERIFY the fit of virtually every piece we manufacture.
Since the company was founded, we have served over 40,000
vintage car owners, restorers and exhaust installers!
Recently Burt and Mary Waldron began planning for retirement.
In September 2006 Joe Tonietto purchased the company
from Burt. Joe has over 30 years of Manufacturing and
Engineering experience in the auto industry. Joe brings
a wealth of hands-on tooling and process skills to Waldron’s.
He is a long time auto enthusiast, currently restoring
a 1968 GTO that will share garage space with his 1969
Firebird and 1971 GTO. Joe has owned and restored several
cars over the past 35 years ranging from a 1957 Corvette
to a 1976 Eldorado. Joe knows first hand how difficult
it can be to find reasonably priced parts through swap
meets, junk yards, eBay and catalog hunts. Burt and
Mary will work with Joe and Jon, who has been with Waldron’s
for over 8 years, to combine Burts knowledge, Joes
business skills and love of vintage vehicles with Jon’s
manufacturing talents to continually improve Waldron’s
products and processes. Our pledge is to better serve
the vintage vehicle market by making our products more
widely available through our web store while maintaining
and improving our high quality standards and low costs.
About our products
When you order an exhaust system from Waldron’s
we verify your vehicle information and confirm the appropriate
exhaust configuration for your application. We use the
“patterns” to verify that the parts we manufacture
are accurate reproductions of the original equipment.
From Auburn to Zephyr, from 1909 to 1980, we can
provide you with a duplicate of your original, factory
exhaust system for nearly every domestically produced
passenger car or light truck built during this period.
In most cases, we can also help you with "updates",
including low-restriction muffler designs that can enhance
sound and performance while maintaining original, stock
appearance. When you order a complete system from us,
we verify all interfaces (pipe to manifold, pipe to
muffler, etc) to ensure your system fits together as
designed.
Over the years, our product line has expanded to include
a variety of muffler and pipe alternatives. Most mufflers
are manufactured using long-lasting aluminized steel,
but we also offer stainless steel mufflers. In addition
to aluminized steel pipes, we offer Type 409 stainless
steel pipes for nearly every application. And of course,
we have thousands of new old stock pipes and mufflers
for a wide variety of applications that were manufactured
from normal carbon steel or galvanized steel.
For the traditional hot rod sound, we have introduced
a line of glasspacks in 18", 24" and 30"
body lengths that represent a budget-conscious approach
to performance mufflers. They sound great and wont
break down in a few months like some of the products
that have been available in the past.
Today, our products also include high-quality reproductions
of discontinued items like transverse dual exhaust mufflers
for mid-60's GM vehicles, one-piece Ford Model A systems
and complete packages for hard-to-find exhaust systems
like those under Ford “retractables” or
early classics like Packard, Auburn, Pierce and Marmon.
